What is REfax?
REfax is a Fax-to-Email Service that uses the internet to connect to traditional fax machines and internet fax numbers. As a Refax Subscriber, you do not need a fax machine or telephone line to send or receive a fax. REfax enables you to send and receive faxes as attachments via email so that you have the ability to send and receive faxes from any internet connected computer or smartphone. In addition, Refax automatically stores all your transmitted documents up to 5 years for individual subscriptions (10 years for groups), so you can instantly view/retrieve your documents from your private archive in the REfax portal. There is no software to install.

How do I send a fax from my Primary Email Account?
How do I receive a fax using Refax?

To receive a fax:
  1. Provide the sender with your unique fax # and ask them to send you the document.
  2. You will receive the fax as a PDF attachment in your Primary Email Account. You can also receive copies to any additional email accounts you specified at registration.
To send a fax:
  1. Log in to your email program. Select the new message or compose message tab.
  2. If you have multiple email accounts connected to your email program, ensure your message will be sent using the Primary Email Account (the main one registered with REfax.)
  3. Address the message to the desired fax#@Refax.ca . (IE: 18885551212@Refax.ca )
  4. Attach the document(s) to your email message that you want to fax and click send.
  5. If you type anything in the body of the email, an extra fax page will be sent containing the information.

What are the Primary Benefits of using Refax?
Refax has been custom designed for Realtors and real estate offices. It is cost saving, confidential, time saving, labour saving, and environmentally friendly. It provides you with the ability to receive and send faxes, directly and privately, wherever you access the Internet. Every fax transmission is date and time stamped, and automatically archived to the REfax portal. In addition to using your Primary Email Account, you can access the REfax portal from any internet-connected computer or smartphone to send or access received faxes, as well as customize your profile. REfax automatically archives all transmitted documents up to 5 years (10 years for groups) and enables you to instantly search and retrieve transmitted documents. There is also a documented audit trail.

What do I need to use Refax?
To use Refax you need an email account, a computer or smartphone with internet access, and you need to register for a Refax subscription by emailing refax@crc.net .

If your documents are in paper form, you also need a scanner or All-in-One device to convert your document into digital format so they can be attached to an outgoing email.

Can I use my fax machine as a scanner to convert paper documents into digital format?
Only if it's an all-in-one device that scans, prints and faxes. You can use the scanner function to convert paper documents into digital format and save them on your computer.

What if I do not have a scanner and my fax machine does not scan?
If you do not have the ability to scan, you can use any fax machine in North America to fax the document to your REfax toll-free number. The document will automatically be scanned by REfax and you will receive an email with the fax attached as a pdf attachment. You can save the attachment on your computer or smartphone (if email accessible). You can also choose to send it by email or by REfax. If you send it by REfax (to a fax number) you will benefit from the REfax features including automatic archiving and fax delivery confirmation.

Can I change the fax number that I am assigned?
Yes, by contacting customer support. You can email them at Support@Refax.ca , or call at 866-233-4123. Customer support is available 24/7/365. A service fee may apply to change a number after it is assigned.

Can I request a vanity fax number?
Yes. The fax # you want may or may not be available. There may be a "one-time" search cost, regardless of whether any of your fax #'s are available in addition to other fees that may be applicable. You will be contacted for pre-approval of charges prior to processing your request. For further information, please email your request to refax@crc.net .

How can I access my Refax information and documents online?
You have immediate access to all information and your private archive by logging into your account on the Refax Portal at http://www.refax.ca//Login.aspx . Your login information will be emailed to you when you have completed your subscription registration. For subscription information please email refax@crc.net .

Can I keep my fax number if I leave Refax or move to another fax-to-email service provider?
Yes, but you won't be able to exchange faxes with other Refax members for free and your archive will be deleted upon plan termination. If you would like to retain your archive you must, prior to expiration/termination of your plan, make retention arrangements (in writing) with REfax customer service by contacting refax@crc.net .
